PDS network – structured cabling with high operational reliability
A professional PDS network is the foundation for stable and predictable data communication in buildings and technical installations.
At KM Telecom, we deliver network solutions for projects that require high demands on structure, quality and documentation.
With more than 20 years of experience, we work with PDS installation as an independent professional discipline and are involved in both smaller and complex projects where the network infrastructure must function stably for many years.
PDS competencies and services
We deliver complete network solutions and handles all central disciplines as an integrated part of the project:
- Analysis and planning of PDS structure
- PDS design of PDS network
- Network installation of structured copper cabling (e.g. Cat. 6/6A)
- Network setup of racks, patch panels and network outlets
- Delivery of PDS-related equipment, including cables, patch panels, racks, outlets and other components
- Labeling, testing and documentation
- Troubleshooting, service and extensions
We work with recognized manufacturers and deliver PDS installations, which, if properly executed, can be covered by up to 25 years of system and product warranty in cooperation with the supplier (e.g. CommScope).
All work is carried out by experienced and certified specialists with a focus on consistent quality and documentation that can be used directly in operation.
Precision, quality and responsibility – all the way
We take responsibility for the entire PDS delivery and work in a structured way from PDS design for delivery.
In practice, we often act as a specialist partner for the electrical installer, where we independently handle PDS installation and the PDS part of the project and ensures that the delivery fits into the overall contract.
We deliver the network solution completed, tested and documented, so it can be delivered directly to operation - without any extra work for you.
The result is an operational reliability PDS network with high stability and a structure that can be adapted to future needs – without compromise.

Frequently asked questions about the PDS network (FAQ)
What is a PDS system and why is structured cabling crucial?
A PDS is the physical data backbone of the building: one uniform plug system that carries data, telephony, access control, surveillance and building management. The advantage is that a workplace or a unit can be moved by moving a single cable in the junction box, i.e. the panel in the technical room where all the cables meet, instead of laying new cables. A well-executed PDS is therefore what makes the building cheap to change later.
Which cable category should we choose?
- Cat 6: up to 1 Gbps, and 10 Gbps over short distances. Used where requirements are limited.
- Cat 6A: our recommendation for new construction. 10 Gbps over 100 meters and shielded against noise from adjacent cables (alien crosstalk).
- Cat 7 and 7A: for environments with high electrical noise or special industrial requirements.
The choice should follow the expected life of the building, not just the need today.
What does PoE mean for the cable infrastructure?
PoE stands for Power over Ethernet and means that the power runs in the data cable. Access points, IP cameras, monitors and sensors can therefore be supplied through the network cable, so that 230 volts do not have to be supplied to each device. At high powers, for example PoE++ of up to 90 W, the cables generate heat. Therefore, the bundle size, routing paths and cable type must be designed so that the heat can be dissipated.
How do you document a PDS installation?
Each data link is measured and certified with calibrated FLUKE testers. You will receive a report with measurement results for each connector, including noise between the wire pairs (NEXT) and how much signal is reflected back (return loss), which documents that the system complies with the EN 50173 standard. The report is also the basis for the manufacturer's warranty and for all subsequent troubleshooting in the building.
What certifications do your PDS technicians have?
We are certified in several manufacturers' cable systems, including CommScope. The certification means that we are allowed to install and measure according to the manufacturer's own program and issue the system and product warranty on the finished system. Because we cover several manufacturers, we can build on the system that the building already has, instead of you having to change manufacturers to get a documented system.
How long does a professional PDS system last?
The expected lifespan is 15 to 20 years. A system that is installed and measured according to the manufacturer's instructions can obtain up to 25 years of system and product warranty through our manufacturer cooperation, including CommScope. This is precisely why documentation matters: the measurement report is what the warranty is based on.
