Active or passive DAS?

There are three main types of DAS installations
(Distributed Antenna System)

Passive DAS System

A passive DAS system distributes the signal from the mobile operators' base stations via a network of antennas and usually covers indoor areas of 12-15.000 square meters. A passive DAS system is ideal for smaller buildings where there is no need to actively monitor how the system is working.

It is the cheapest solution that also requires a minimum of maintenance. The solution can be implemented for one or more operators.

Hybrid DAS system

Et hybrid DAS system is often used with multiple operators. With this solution, there are no size limitations for the building. It is possible to upgrade to new frequencies and you have the option of remote monitoring, which allows for faster and more cost-effective service and troubleshooting.

Please note that the distance from the main unit to the radio must not exceed 20 kilometers.

Active DAS system

In an active DAS system is distributed the signal indoors over a network of antennas, via active sub-units, each delivering a separate signal. This means that such systems are capable of covering much larger buildings and building complexes, or even areas with multiple buildings.

Such distributed signal transmission devices provide better scalability and flexibility. Active systems can also be monitored remotely, enabling faster and more cost-effective service and troubleshooting.

This is the most complex solution. However, there are no size limitations and it is possible to have multiple operators. It is easy to upgrade to new frequencies and you can use your own Cat6a/fiber.
