DAS

Coverage counts

The way modern society works depends on reliable mobile signal coverage. Expectations are high nowadays we all expect that online access is always available, pretty much everywhere.

We’re online all the time, and preferably on multiple devices – smartphones, tablets, computers, watches and whatever new devices or IoT setups emerge in the years to come.

Wireless signals only have value if the paying end-user customer can actually receive them. Indoors, that often isn’t easy.

Hindrances abound

Modern buildings often feature large amounts of concrete, steel and other materials with a natural tendency to obstruct signals. The special, energy-optimised construction methods now required in most modern buildings also tend to make signal access more difficult. Facades, cladding, inner structures and fixtures often feature complex combinations of special materials that are certainly not optimised for their signal transmission properties.

Big, commercial buildings (and many other structures) are also usually fitted with large amounts of complex wiring, piping, ducting and HVAC equipment, often with big machinery spaces tucked away “behind the walls”. All this together can result in electrical interference, weak signal coverage and “dead spots”.

In buildings where there are many people indoors at the same time, their unpredictable, concentrated patterns of mobile device use within the same relatively small building footprint can also present big practical challenges to the capabilities and capacity of any existing mobile network.

Indoor mobile coverage using DAS technology

Any wireless signal the provider transmits is only as good as the end-user experience, and only as good as the end-user paying customer perceives it to be. Customer satisfaction has to match customer expectations

DAS (Distributed Antenna System) technology provides the best possible mobile signal coverage in all kinds of large, sprawling building complexes and other structures that feature dense occupancy or intense usage/traffic.

DAS systems provide purpose-configured indoor antenna systems connected to the services provided by one or more mobile operators. They are usually configured for use with any mobile signal provider – so you aren’t “locked in” to any one supplier.

Where?

DAS systems are the most cost-effective way to ensure the full-value 2G to 5G end-user experience in places where there are many people indoors at the same time, resulting in unpredictable, concentrated patterns of mobile device use within the same relatively small building footprint.

DAS connectivity is the key to high-QoS 2G to 5G services in places like offices, shopping centres, airports, exhibition centres, hospitals. hotels, sports arenas, bus and train stations, underground parking facilities, underground/metro networks, tunnels and countless other places.

DAS systems are ideal for energy-efficient thermally sealed modern buildings and structures featuring complex wiring, piping, ducting and HVAC equipment, or places like hospitals and other medical facilities where complicated/important electronics have to be shielded against electromagnetic interference.
